Master Plan Considerations for building Reasonable Recruitment Areas

About Recruitment Areas in a Sub plan

When building Recruitment Areas, the sub plan's default Reasonable Recruitment Area will initially reflect the Master Plan default, and menus will reflect areas added in the Master Plan.

However, at the sub-plan level:

  • Default RRAs may be set on the By Plan tab.^
  • RRAs may be added to the system and made available for assignment locally.

^When an area is not chosen for a Job Group, the default RRA will apply.

You may also choose to make later changes in the Master Plan and override the sub-plan settings, by checking the box for: Yes, cascade to my sub plans.

Assign RRAs by Job Group in a Master Plan with EEO Job Group Structure

If a Master Plan has at least one sub plan associated — under Plan Codes — with an EEO Job Group structure, the menu header will display Corporate Job Groups and EE0 Job Groups tabs. Assign RRAs to the groups under both tabs to make the Master Plan assignments available for sub plans. Although any changes made will cascade to the sub plans, customization at the sub-plan level remains available.

Cross-reference: For information on job group structure, see: Plan Codes.

(Optional) Use Plan Groups to Assign RRA by Job Group

Reporting Levels > Plan Groups, once established, can form the foundation for assigning RRAs across sub plans by Job Group. This option is available by accessing Recruitment Areas > By Job Groups in the Master Plan: Select a Plan Group from the drop-down beneath the menu header before proceeding to assign areas.

By default, sub plans will reflect the Plan Group settings, so review the cascade setting at the bottom of the page before saving a Recruitment Area assignment.

Cross-reference: For instructions on creating Plan Groups, see: Master Plan Reporting Levels.

Quick Reminder: Review the RRAs for each Plan Group that is displayed in the drop-down.

Additional Considerations

Assign RRAs by Job Group in a Sub plan

Any edits made to Recruitment Areas > By Job Group in a Master Plan will apply to those Job Groups where they appear across sub plans. Recruitment Area assignments may be edited in the sub plan.

When Importing RRAs from another BalanceAAP Plan

An Assign Sub Plans menu will display, from which you can choose:

  • Do not assign recruitment areas to sub plans at this time. (Default)
  • Cascade recruitment areas to sub plans.
  • Import recruitment areas from matching sub plans.

How the Recruitment Area Wizard operates in the Master Plan

If the Recruitment Area Wizard was used in the Master Plan to automate the creation and assignment of areas by Zip code, those selections will automatically cascade to the sub plans.
